What is mindfulness (MBSR)

Mindfulness is a skill you can train, just like a muscle. You practice by paying attention to what is happening in the present moment, without judgment. It helps you shift from the constant “doing” mode and alertness to a state of simply being.

By practicing 45–60 minutes a day with guided meditations and practical exercises, you gradually strengthen your attention, increase awareness, and create more calm and balance in your daily life.
MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) is a training with a 45-year history, applied in many areas. It is widely used in healthcare for supporting people with depression and chronic pain, and in high-performance fields to improve focus, stress management, and decision-making.

MBSR helps you develop new ways of functioning, reduce rumination and negative thinking patterns, and create space to make clearer, healthier choices in everyday life.

In daily life, this translates to:

  • More calm

  • Greater clarity

  • Increased resilience

A fresh way of seeing, feeling, and being.

Reimbursement for MBSR Training

I am registered with VMBN (category 1, international mindfulness trainer) and listed in the Mindfulness Register, so my MBSR trainings are often (partially) reimbursable by many supplementary health insurance plans in The Netherlands.

Note: Reimbursement depends on your insurer and policy. Always check with your own insurance provider.

Tips for additional coverage

  • Employer funding: Many organizations support stress reduction and sustainable employability. Check with HR or your manager if your training can be covered via training or well-being budgets.

  • Development programs: MBSR can also be part of a personal development plan, burnout prevention, or reintegration program.
